I BEGAN THIS TREK from Hong Kong, a metropolis like no other in the world. Monstrous skyscrapers crowd this island city located in the South China Sea. Hong Kong is one of the busiest of the world class seaports, a hub for Asian products to be shipped to the west.
I have been advised by the concierge at the hotel to be sure not to miss the ruins of an old church, Cathedral of St. Paul, located on the top of the hill near the center of the old city of Macau. I’ve decided to take his advice. It takes a little time to figure out how to get there. Apparently, I need to take a taxi down to the water; then a ferry to the new city; and a bus from the newly developed city to the old historic part of the city. The church should be easy to find from there. (excerpt from Sites of Awe—Macau in Issue 35 of The Witches’ Almanac)
