Preface

The Witches Almanac 2018-2019

Andrew Theitic

ELIZABETH PEPPER ONCE SAID, “My dear, do not shy from bad weather, but walk tall in the rain and embrace its gift.”

It is now time to put aside the negativity that has been swirling around the world and embrace the gift of change. Move with change; do not resist. The Great Mother stirs and we will joyfully move with Her.

Gwydion Pendderwen recorded The Lord of the Dance, with variant lyrics, on his album Songs of the Old Religion (though, not the entire song). The lyrics can be found in various places, nonetheless here is an excerpt for you to sing or hum happily throughout the year, and knowing the Earth is changing and we are part of that change*. Celebrate!

When she danced on the waters and the wind was her horn,
The Lady laughed and everything was born,
She lit the Sun and the Light gave him birth,
The Lord of the Dance then appeared on the Earth,

Chorus
Dance then wherever you may be,
For I am the Lord of the Dance, said He,
And I’ll lead you all wherever you may be,
And I’ll lead you on in the Dance, said He.

I danced in the morning when the world was begun,
I danced in the moon and the stars and the sun,
I was called from the darkness by the song of the Earth,
I joined in the singing and she gave me birth
